Varzina River Lodge
Kola Peninsula |
The Varzina River Lodge sits atop a bluff overlooking the enormous home pool where the Penka River flows into the Varzina River on Russia's Kola Peninsula.
This brawling river system is home to some of the toughest Atlantic Salmon around. The Varzina is the main river of the system. It starts high in the tundra where it flows from Lake Enozero.
While most of the fishing is accessed by short helicopter flights, some of the best holding pools are just a short walk away from the main lodge. The lodge fishes the Drosdovka and Sidorovka rivers as well as the Varzina and Penka.
Varzina River Lodge features a comfortable lodge with dining and sitting rooms. Guests stay in cozy cabins. There are separate sauna and bathroom facilites.
Varzina River Lodge takes between 6 and 16 anglers per week depending on the time of season.

Imagine fishing Alaska 100 years ago©
| Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula in many ways mirrors its Western neighbor, Alaska. It is a land of stunning scenery, abundant wildlife and rivers full of fish. For over 60 years, Kamchatka has been virtually off-limits to human impact. It is one of the world's last remaining pristine tracts of land. Welcome to the Alaska of 1900… and just a 5-hour flight from Anchorage.
For several years, Wild Salmon River Expeditions (as part of the non-profit conservation and scientific research organization, the Wild Salmon Center) has been guiding scientific expeditions in Kamchatka. Collaborating in Kamchatka with local and international groups, Wild Salmon River Expeditions has established a reputation as a leader with unmatched dedication and experience, deeply committed to the long-term sustainability of the region. Helicopter Transfers
Access to the fishing camps is provided by helicopters from Petropavlovsk/Yelizovo. These helicopters are maintained according to strict international standards, and flown by Russian pilots with extensive experience. |
