Zhupanova River Float Trip

Releasing a big 'bowFor the slightly more adventerous angler, Wild Salmon River Expeditions operate a luxurious float program on the upper Zhupanova covering about fifty miles of river. Individual runs are fished, on average for about 2 hours a week. Consequently the fish are undisturbed and aggressive. This is some of the best fishing in the world for large rainbow trout with many fish in the 28"-30" range and some over 34". Each season anglers hook rainbows that simply cannot be stopped - uncontrollable 15-20 pounders.

Wild Salmon River Expeditions and Russian partners, Purga Outfitting, invite you to float Kamchatka's wonderful Zhupanova River for a week of the best angling for huge rainbow trout in the world. Virtually every visiting angler lands the biggest rainbow trout of their life while fishing as our guests. In addition to huge trout, the Zhupanova provides tremendous fishing for Dolly Varden, and white spotted char (an enormous, sea-going char that can weigh-in at twenty or more pounds-woe for your trout rod!) as well as Chinook, pink, chum and coho salmon.

Each day two anglers and their guide float about eight miles of pristine water between well appointed, pre-established camps (comfortable sleeping tents, covered eating area, shower tent, cozy campfire, great food.) You will float through stunning wilderness with bears, caribou, moose, badgers, sable, foxes, and many species of raptors including Stellar sea eagles-the largest eagles in the world. For the discriminating angler--luxury, unequaled trout fishing and great price!

The Zhupanova is a large, shallow river with an incredible population of very large rainbow trout taking dry flies, mouse patterns, sunk flies and so on. Come prepared for the biggest rainbow trout of your life! One-hundred large trout per week per rod are not unusual. Highly qualified and experienced guides and camp staff provide for your safety, angling success and comfort. You can count on the best trout fishing of your life!

The Zhupanova River is easily reached by reliable jet service from Anchorage (4.5 hours with weekly Sunday departures) and a spectacular helicopter ride (40 minutes) from Petropavlovsk. You will be in camp about seven hours after departing Anchorage. The helicopter flight alone is breathtaking trip--stunning vistas of a wild, untamed land laced with clear flowing rivers surrounded by mountain ranges and towering volcanoes.
