Ascension Bay Bonefish Club

There is a place. A very special place, near the famous Mayan ruins on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, where Permit are huge and schools of Bonefish invade the shallow flats. Tarpon, Snook, and the flashy Barracuda, are there as well. The resort is small - for that special attention - five or six anglers at a time. There is a guide for every angler (talk about special features!) and the food and accommodations are great. This is Ascension Bay Bonefish Club.

One of the powerful attractions of this region is fishing for Permit. Most experts would rate these waters among the world's best for fly-fishing for Permit on the flats.

ASCENSION BAY BONEFISH CLUB is a small, exclusive operation catering to a maximum of 6 guests. This facility was designed ten years ago for flats fishermen. It is constructed of concrete block with white plastered interior walls, Spanish tile floors, and tasteful furnishings.

Screened windows surrounding the house afford views of the garden and the Caribbean beyond, while allowing passage of gentle breezes, along with solar powered fans that provide 24 hour ventilation. There are three bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms, the larger one perfect for couples. The showers are large, tiled and have plenty of hot water. There is ample space in the bedrooms to unpack and get settled.

The drinking water is bottled. There is a large combination gathering room, dining room. The kitchen is just off this gathering room. All rooms have shuttered glass windows with screens to take advantage of the relaxing tropical breezes.

The Club sits on the edge of a lobster fishing cooperative and is surrounded by a natural vegetation landscape. A veranda in the front, with rod racks and hammocks are available for guests use.
