In 1962, Adrian and his wife Pat opened the Cumilahue Lodge.Over the years, they have hosted hundreds of fly fishermen from all over the world. The walls of their lodge are filled with photos of many fly fishing legends plying their skills on the beautiful local rivers and streams. The lodge is charming, the food and wine excellent, and the Cumilahue River is 50 yards from the guest rooms. Superb and civilized. All rooms have private baths.
The Cumilahue River offers wonderful fishing for Brown Trout and Rainbows. Adrian Dufflocq's knowledge of flyfishing and especially of the rivers in the region is vast. An ardent conservationist, Adrian is involved in many programs for fisheries and wildlife preservation and acts as a consultant on sport fishing matters to the Government of Chile.
Dry fly fishing is very exciting, especially during the heavy hatches that occur almost every day at sunset. Large trout rise freely to take insects on the surface. Nymph fishing is productive, and the angler can take some large fish at all levels, depending on where they are feeding. Cumilahue Lodge can accomodate up to 10 guests at one time, ensuring a quiet vacation and privacy. The lodge is filled with memorabilia from past guests and Adrian's extensive fishing history.
Cumilahue Lodge is accessed via Puerto Montt, Osorno or Valdivia and is perfect for a 4-6 day visit. Also, as they are located on the return air route for most of the other lodges, it is also ideal for additional quality fishing after visiting other more southern lodges. Below is a short video sample of Cumilahue Lodge. Please be patient while it loads. This movie requires a Flash Player.
