As many of you know, Paloma Lodge was lost in a fire in March 2003. Since the tragedy, Jay Burgin and Mary Jacques have been looking for a way to continue to provide the wonderful experience that was Paloma Lodge. They have developed a plan we think will be of interest to you. They hope to have a new lodge built for the 2005-2006 season. Until the new lodge is completed, Jay and Mary are leasing a new lodge facility to provide superior accommodations and food for guests. They have their own chef on staff who will be providing breakfast and dinner plus all the makings for your streamside lunches.
Cinco Rios continues to fish the best parts of the rivers and lakes they fished in the past. With their new, more central location, they are able to expand the fishing options and fish waters they have not fished in previous years. Cinco Rios Lodge is a full service lodge that can house up to twelve guests. Each room has two beds and a private bath.A main Quincho or Great Room invites guests to relax, swap fish stories, and make plans for the next day's angling. Also located in the main building is the main dining room where both breakfast and dinner are served. Guests prepare their individual stream side lunches and meet for social hour after fishing. Peaceful and secluded, the Rio Simpson area is a bird watcher's paradise for Andean condors, Chilean Southern - ringed kingfishers, eagles, ibis, torrent ducks and parakeets.
You encounter glaciers, tropical flowers and temperate rain forests without the dangers of poisonous snakes, spiders and other creepy crawlies. The streams offer diverse fishing; incredible, exciting dry fly action; and, challenging sight fishing in pristine, clear waters. Some brown trout, only accessible by jet boat because of limited roads, have never seen a dry fly. Browns average 18 inches; many are larger.
On your way to the nearby rivers and lakes, you may encounter local huasos driving their cattle or sheep along the road or into the hills. You might think you are lost in the wild west of days gone by until you realize a huaso may shuttle your boat with his oxen. A typical fishing itinerary would be as follows:
Other options include fishing small lakes such as Lago Pollux and Lago Frio for large rainbows up to 30 + inches. You will be able to fish some new small spring creeks the guides discovered last year. You will also be able to fish the Rio Blanco, Rio Deseque, Rio Pica Flora, Rio Nireguao and Rio Manihuales. All the fishing is within an hour from our location with most trips being shorter. A good portion of the fishing will be with dry flies such as big beetles and grasshoppers. 2008-2009 Season Rates: $3,675.00 USD per person, double occupancy. $4,675.00 USD per person, single occupancy. The stay is from Saturday to Saturday with six days of guided fishing and seven nights lodging. Package price is all-inclusive except for travel expenses, airfare, incidentals, and gratuities. |
