In June of 2005 fire destroyed the old farmhouse that was Smoker Brook Lodge. The fire forced the McKervills to move operations into the facilities at Fourmen Lodge. They quickly realized the potential of this location and began working towards acquiring the lodge. We are now pleased to announce that Smoker Brook Lodge and Fourmen Lodge will join forces. The McKervills will assume all operations at Fourmen Lodge.

Beginning in April of 2007 Smoker Brook Lodge and Fourmen Lodge will become one.

hearthHigh on the east bank of the Northwest Miramichi river at the head of tide the lodge commands a spectacular panoramic view of the river and several of the many pools. The main lodge is nestled just a few steps down the hill from the dining lodge. Boats and canoes sit at the ready right in front of the lodge.

The main lodge features four cozy double rooms and two bathrooms. The common room of the lodge is graced by a river stone fire place. The dining room, lounge, games/media room and kitchen are on top of the hill beside the guides camp. The lounge is highlighted by another stone hearth. The dining room boasts a remarkable view of the river and meadows where bald eagles, osprey, whitetail deer and beavers go about their daily routines. The lodge can comfortably accommodate large or small groups for any occasion.

lodgeBright salmon arrive in late May. Anglers travel the river with their guides in 26 foot canoes to access any of more than 20 pools in 8 miles of the lower Northwest has been one of our favorites. Often the best fishing has been right at the head of tide in front of the lodge. In addition to the lodge's two private beats they use over 20 miles of open water on the Northwest. The Big Sevogle is only 15 min away and offers miles of spectacularly beautiful and productive fishing.

In 2006 Orr Pool and Nash Bar were made available to Smoker Brook guests on a regular basis. Nash Bar produced the biggest salmon of the season at over 30 pounds. Adding to these two great pools they will have access to an additional 6 productive private beats on the Southwest.

vistaSo, the good folks at Smoker Brook Lodge are looking forward to a great season. We believe that they have found the perfect location to take advantage of all the rivers have to offer.

Also, to make getting to Smoker Brook Lodge easier for those coming from the US, There are now direct flights on Continental Airlines to Moncton, NB from Newark, NJ.
