Sea Run Brown Trout in Argentina
Across the Straits of Magellan on the southern tip of South America lies Tierra del Fuego - the land of fire. Here is found some of the world's finest fishing for sea-run Brown Trout. We are seeing bigger runs and larger fish each season. The landscape is severe but beautiful, and the wind usually blows. For those who savor fishing for large sea-run fish, it can seem like heaven. The premier river is the Rio Grande. Access is strictly regulated by several large estancias. We offer a superb selection of lodges on the choicest beats on both the Argentine and Chilean sides of the border. These beats produce steady catches with fish occasionally up to 30 pounds.
The Rio Gallegos is located on the other side of the Straits of Magellan from Tierra del Fuego. It runs from its headwaters 300 kilometers eastward to the Atlantic Ocean at the city of Rio Gallegos. The river offers not only excellent fishing for Sea Run Browns but also healthy populations of resident browns in its tributaries. |
