A Unique Program - For the angler wishing to fish a great variety of Argentina's premier rivers, Esquel Outfitters is the best game in town. It is the only operation of its kind in Patagonia. Due to their location in the south, and the vast experience of their guides, they offer an incredible choice of waters to fish. Trips can include, 3 regions in Argentina, with each region offering multiple choices of rivers and lakes. A three or four day camping/floating trip on an estancia with private access can be included. Guest accommodations will vary from lodges, camping, cabanas, to private fishing cabins.

Esquel Outfitters has been featured twice on ESPN's “In Search of Flywater”, as well as receiving numerous write ups in various fishing publications. They offer more variety, the finest guides, remote fishing, and an exceptional experience. You are invited to visit, have a glass of wine, Cuban cigars enjoy an Argentine Asado, and have a wonderful time fishing some very beautiful rivers.

Esquel Outfitters are based out of Hosteria El Trebol. A place that has won the hearts of all who have visited. This is their base for the Los Alerces Region. During a week long visit, anglers have the opportunity to fish a vast range of rivers so in order to keep travel time down to a minimum, accommodations may be at another couple of locations during the week depending on which waters you are fishing. In Esquel they will make accommodations based on your itinerary. All facilities have private baths, and well stocked bars. The accommodations in Rio Pico are beautiful Cabanas with waterfront vistas. All accommodations are comfortable, secluded, and reflect the beauty of Argentine building styles.

Trips are individually planned and executed to offer tremendous variety and flexibility - always a key for successful outings. From the moment a client arrives, until their departure for home, they will be escorted by English-speaking professional guides whose only concern is providing a wonderful fishing trip in this majestic country.

About The Fishing
The fly fishing scenery of Patagonian Argentina is very similar to the western United States, particularly Montana, Colorado and Wyoming. Their mid-summer weather is predominately dry and warm during the day and cool at night.

The rivers of the region are mostly freestone with some spring creeks. Particularly in the spring creeks, the trout rise feverishly during a hatch to mayflies and caddis ranging from size 10 to 20. Otherwise, the most common food form is the "pancora," a fresh water crab imitated by a black or olive wooly bugger or similar size 4 or 6 wet fly.

The trout of Patagonia (browns, rainbows and brook trout) average 12-20 inches. Intermediate fly fishers can expect to land trout over 20 inches, and experienced anglers have a good chance of landing a trout 5-11 pounds. Several rivers also contain landlocked Atlantic Salmon which can exceed 10 pounds.
