Sitting RoomPatagonia River Ranch is a beautiful fly-fishing lodge nestled on the banks of the legendary Chimehuin River. The structure was completed in the fall of 1999. Reflecting old world architectural style and design, the native rock and timber lodge provides guests with an intimate and unique setting from which to experience the surrounding countryside. Furnishings and décor are modeled after the classic fly-fishing lodges of generations past, yet provide today's world traveling anglers and adventurers with all the luxuries and comforts expected.

Patagonia River Ranch features spacious and well-appointed guest suites, each with their own charm, private bath, and breathtaking views of the surrounding river valley and Chapelco Mountain.

Lodge

Dining roomEnjoy sharing your day's angling experiences at the antique bar before gathering in the dining room to sample a variety of fine dishes and excellent Argentine wines created from vineyards around the region. Meals will include a mixture of local Argentine favorites, along with selections that incorporate the best of western and European cuisine. If the fishing alone doesn't create incredible memories, our cuisine certainly will!

LoungePrior to engaging your "trout of a lifetime", guests also have access to the fly tying den where they can craft that "one secret pattern" which is certain to entice even the most educated rainbow, brown or brook trout.

For the non-fishing guest, or the angler needing to give his fishing arm a well-deserved rest, there are many diversions. Day hikes, excursions by van, horseback riding, local artisan fairs, or the pleasurable South American art of total relaxation.

The Fishing

Nice BrownThe Malleo, Alumine, Collon Cura, Calleufu, and Chimehuin. These, among many others, are some of the most outstanding rivers and streams from which to fly fish in Argentina. The headwaters for most of the areas crystal clear rivers begin in cold water glacier lakes.

Trout were first introduced in the early 1900's. Wild populations of German brown, McCloud-strain rainbow, and Eastern brookies - as well as land locked-salmon - have reached average sizes well above anywhere else in the world. The foothills of the Andes, the location of most of your fishing, will remind you of Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming 60 years ago - uncrowded and unspoiled.

Each waterway has its own unique characteristics, its own nuances, its own secrets. To discover the secrets of these true gems, you will be placed in the capable hands of Carlos Trisciuzzi, Head Guide at Patagonia River Ranch. Having guided and fished these regional waters for more than 20 years, Carlos is one of Argentina's pre-eminent authorities on flycasting, fly tying, and catch-and-release angling.
