Fishing
The lodge offers guests both guided and unguided fishing and fresh water and salt water opportunities at Whale Pass.
Fresh Water Fishing
Prince of Wales Island is blessed with hundreds of rivers, lakes and streams to cast your line. Depending on the season you can be angling for Steelhead, Cutthroat Trout, Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden or one of four species of Salmon in the streams. Rainbow and Cutthroat Trout are in the lakes year round. The lodge's guides are happy to take you into some of their favorite holes in little rivers, streams and lakes around the island, and help you enjoy some great light tackle action.
Salt Water Fishing
Whale Pass Lodge's crews fish on either side of the Prince of Wales Island for Halibut, King Salmon, Silver Salmon and rock fish depending on the time of the season you are there. You will fish from state of art 25' or 29' walk around boats they like to calll "SUBs" or Sports Utility Boats. They are complete with heated cabins, bathroom, and berth to take a nap. Boats are outfitted with the latest in marine electronics including VHS radio, satellite phone, radar, chartplotter and fish-finding sonar. You can even plug your IPod into their onboard CD player if you're one of those folks who need a little music to make your day go along. Plus, the custom Yakima racks can carry all the 'toys' you can handle for the day.
