Talaheim Lodge is located midway on the Talachulitna River just 85 miles west of Anchorage in the foothills of the Alaska Range.

Talaheim offers a variety of trips. You may choose a five day float trip or a seven day trip which includes daily fly-outs to very isolated waters by helicopter and float plane. Crystal clear rivers and streams, most of which are wadeable - just perfect for fly fishermen - where salmon as well as large rainbow can easily be caught with fly rods. The lodge also has great on-site fishing...fish 15 miles of the Talachulitna from jet boats. There is never a day when you cannot get to fishing because of the weather.

Your trip takes you through rushing waters to peaceful, fish-filled pools and timber-lined, glacier-carved lakes where you can cast to nine species including Pacific Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Grayling, Dolly Varden and Northern Pike.

Part of the charm and character of Talaheim is that it is an authentic rustic home separated from the nearest road by 60 miles of wilderness.

The guest cabins are constructed with local logs and timbers from Talaheim's sawmill, they are rustic but comfortable and modern with indoor bathrooms and electricity. In addition there is a sauna, hot tub, radio telephone, float plane, helicopter and river boats.

Since 1988 Talaheim Lodge has been utilizing helicopters to take clients to areas few fishermen have ever fished. The folks at Talaheim believe that Alaskan fishing should be a wilderness experience, after all, you are fishing the 'last frontier'. Just a 10 or 20 minute flight from the lodge by helicopter will open up hundreds of miles of wilderness fishing streams. Talaheim is one of the few lodges offering 'heli-fishing.' Waters that they fish by helicopter see very few fishermen.

Alaskan Rainbow Trout vary as much as the areas they come from. Talaheim guides specialize in fishing for Rainbow Trout averaging three pounds and reaching eight...all from small wadeable streams. In mid-July our first Salmon start dropping eggs. Trout at this time are congested behind these spawning salmon. Your helicopter takes you to the far reaches of these small streams where the majority of Salmon spawn. This 'heli-fishing' offers some fast and exciting angling.

2008 season rates: $6,450.00 per person, double occupancy. The rate includes roundtrip air transfer between Anchorage and Talaheim Lodge.
